Scar Removal Treatment for Liposuction Scars

Liposuction Scar Treatment

Liposuction Scars Treatment in Los angeles

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that uses a minimally-invasive cannula to extract unwanted fat from the face, neck, or body. The approach taken for liposuction is less invasive than standard body lift procedures, such as tummy tucks, armlifts, or thighlifts. In the United States, liposuction is among the most common cosmetic surgery procedures to sculpt the body.

Liposuction can be performed alone, in combination with other cosmetic surgery procedures, or during a buttlift such as a BBL surgery to sculpt the buttocks. All of these procedures are minimally-invasive, but can result in small scars at the site of surgery. These scars can be hypertrophic, keloid, or atrophic in nature. Our Los Angeles plastic surgery office is among the most renowned scar healing centers in the United States and our double board-certified plastic surgeon is well recognized for his expertise in laser-based and surgical scar removal. We treat textural, topographic, contoured, inflamed, hyperpigmented, hypopigmented, and widened scars resulting from liposuction.

Consultation for Liposuction Scars

The first step in treating your liposuction scars begins with a careful examination by one of our board-certified plastic surgeons or dermatologists. We are specialists in scar healing and can help you obtain long-term results in scar management. We begin all consultations with biometric analyses of your scars to examine the skin for inflammation, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, texture loss,  or excessive fibrosis and collagen formation.  During your consultation in Los Angeles, we will recommend a specific treatment protocol that may include lasers, topical scar creams, radiofrequency ablation, intralesional injections, surgical scar removal, subcision, or scar release with fibrosis treatment. We treat all different types of liposuction scars and are rarely concerned if a scar is new or old.

Patients who have poor results after liposuction may also have fibrotic changes within the skin and soft tissue that may lead to scar contracture, uneven contour, and fibrosis. These different types of scars may involve the fatty soft tissue in areas of treatment. We approach liposuction scars using a multi-layered approach to address skin changes, fibrotic soft tissue changes, contour irregularities in the fatty layer, and overall contouring results.

Soft tissue fibrosis after liposuction can be corrected with radiofrequency treatments, scar fibrosis release, revision liposuction, tummy tuck or bodylift surgery, collagenase treatment, or fat transfer.  Kare Plastic Surgery is the ideal location to help treat liposuction scars after surgery.

Liposuction Scar Removal with Kare Plastic Surgery Keloids and Hypertrophic Scar Los Angeles

Keloid and Hypertrophic Scars

Keloid and hypertrophic scars resulting from liposuction can be addressed with intralesional injections, laser therapy, scar modulation with topical creams, and surgical scar release. We perform surgical scar excision and subcision procedures to address atrophic and tethered scars resulting from overaggressive laser liposuction or Vaser liposuction. Inflamed, hypertrophic, and keloid scars require immediate attention in order to minimize long-term scarring. If there's associated hyperpigmentation of your liposuction scar, we will address this with topical creams such as Melarase in order to reduce hyperpigmentation and overaggressive melanin deposition.

Atrophic Scars

Atrophic scars are usually indented and caused by excessive fibrosis and scar contracture with tethering of the soft tissue . A solid decision has to be made by our board-certified plastic surgeon on whether scar release alone ;or scar release with fat transfer may help address your atrophic contour scars. By addressing excessive fibrosis and scar tissue, we can help enhance your overall cosmetic results.

Pigmented and Discolored Liposuction Scars

Hypopigmented scars after liposuction can be addressed by modulating the amount of melanin deposition within the epidermis. Our double board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Raffy Karamanoukian can address genetic, complexion-based, and UV induced hyperpigmentation within the dermis. Dark and pigmented scars resulting from liposuction can respond to aggressive topical skin care and rapid exfoliation protocols.

Intralesional injections, topical scar creams, including Melarase, silicone sheets, surgical scar revision, fibrosis release, fat transfer, revision liposuction, and surgical scar revision can all help improve liposuction scars . Laser therapy is an ideal course of treatment for patients who want a less invasive option for liposuction scar revision. Our goal is to remove and eliminate visible scarring from your skin. To understand your options for liposuction scarring, a consultation in our Los Angeles, plastic surgery office can help address hypertrophic, atrophic, keloid, and pigmented liposuction scars. Combination modalities are the most useful for scar medication. We look forward to meeting you and discussing your liposuction scar needs in our office.
